Whats your Home Address: London Gatwick Airport Terminal

It's been reported in the news that a homeless unemployed chef lived in London's Gatwick Airport South terminal for three years. Anthony Delaney has camped at the terminal for three years, sleeping and taking showers at that London address inspite of countless run ins with UK Police. He'd only leave the terminal to collect his unemployment benefits, this was all inspite being banned from entering the Airport. What made him do this? Sheer act of desperation probably.
Did you know that movie The Terminal was inspired by a real life man who was at a waiting zone (detention) in Charles De Gaulle (CDG) Airport in France. Mehran Karimi Nasseri, an Iranian born man who appealed a number of times as a refugee into the UK, Italy, France. From 1988 to 2006, he lived at CDG airport's Terminal One Departure lounge. During this time, he's become friends with the airport staff, who donated a sofa for him to sleep on and offered to wash his clothes. While at the airport, Nasseri had a daily routine to wake up at 5AM, wash the public toilets, listen to the radio, read a book, and write in his journal. This journal has been turned into an autobiography called the Terminal Man. It has been said by the Sunday Times that this book is both disturbing and brilliant. Hmmmm. This is interesting. I have always loved the movie with Tom Hanks, The Terminal, and so reading this may interest me.

New York City is represented in Sydney!

New York still needs an increase in their visitors! As if they need it! (But I suppose after 9/11 their visitors have significantly decreased per The Shrouded World after 911)

Finally eager beaver Sydneysiders who are after loads of information on NYC prior to their travel will have access and be able to peek through to the Big Apple's world without leaving their hometown. New York City opens its first tourism office in Sydney!

NYC and Company, represented by Integra Tourism Marketing aims to promote New York as a multi faceted destination offering much more than the usual sightseeing Manhattan city lifestyle. It is a growing trend for NYC visitors to go and explore other boroughs outside downtown NYC. Did you know that New York has 14 miles of beaches, numerous bike paths with waterviews, hundreds of acres of parklands. New York has the most number of parks in one city in the United States! I never knew that! I would definitely need to see this to believe! The park bum in me is getting all excited about this!)

I have been surfing through the updated NYC website and I am finding it user friendly. Easy navigation to Dining options, hot deals, shopping, entertainment, etc. It even has updates on What to do Today offering information on current shows in theatres and the music scene! Such a cool site! I can't wait to plan my New York visit!

Shopping gods and goddesses - Online goodies!

Isn't it wonderful that the internet actually opens more opportunities for one to be an entrepreneur? I have always admired people who are able to make a living by selling things online. Like hubby for example. Small time as his hobby is, he has made countless sales online. I have been encouraging him to actually pursue this if it is really his thing. I know it takes a lot of patience, business skills, creativity and hardwork to be able to come up with a shopping site that will make you earn a living. Coming up with ideas for products to sell, and knowing where to source them cheap but assured of quality, is indeed a talent.

Another talent that most of these online entrepreneurs is being a techie otherwise known as a person who is up to date with technology stuff. If you find yourself not a techie or are technologically challenged but still after the best ecommerce software, then you can definitely try Ashop Commerce's tool for easy and affordable shopping cart software. Browsing through their website one can see that they emphasize their commitment to their customers by providing technical support and even offering live chat with their customer service representatives. I have convinced hubby to look at Ashop Commerce's website and just give it a shot at actually selling online. After all, Ashop offers a 10 day free trial on their website. What's there to lose?

Picnics at the Park on a Sunny Sunday afternoon

Photo taken last Sunday at the Royal Botanic Gardens.

More pics from yesterday's Royalty Ships in Sydney

Just a few more photos from yesterday's event in Sydney. Thousands of people flocked to watch the Royalties meet at Sydney Harbour. It was one of those things that happen once in a while. In this case, its the last time that QE2 (Cunard's Queen Elizabeth 2) to visit Sydney. It was a pretty sight having the two ladies swim past Fort Denison.

I was situated near Mrs Macquaries Chair. Some people were standing on the rocks, trying to take photos. And I was one of them. Well, it gave us a good view of the ships. The crowd had toddlers, infants, and even grandmas and grandpas!

Amazing!

Charming Beads available!

Sometimes I am a really creative person wanting to be free... Although for now, those moments all just remain as attempts. Part of being a girly girl is all about wanting pretty accessories that only you would have. Something that I would be able to wear proudly knowing that I made them myself. At times when I feel creative, I would be so hyped into wanting to create my own accessories and jewelries. I would go as far as researching about beads , charms, semi precious stones, tools and all that I could possibly need. I would go looking around for hours surfing the net and imagining product samples in my head. I would even compute for how much beads I should order as well as how much I could possibly make if I actually sell them to friends and relatives!

I envy my friends who patiently make their own jewelry. Which reminds me, I need to share with them about the great website find that I discovered : Lallette. Here, they have an extensive collection of charms, beads, semi precious stones, pendants, mother of pearls and even pouch bags!

Every once in a while I get these bursts of creativity in me, and I know one day I will go ahead and push through with ordering beads, charms, kits and all that. And when that happens, I know that I can find these all at Lallette.

Queens Victoria and Elizabeth in Sydney on 24 February!

... the ships, that is!

On sunday, february 24 both Cunard ships will be meeting at Sydney Harbour. Queen Victoria, who is on her maiden voyage, would be heading on to cruise the Tasman Sea before docking at the port of Brisbane on February 26. Meanwhile, this is Queen Elizabeth 2's last voyage and last visit to Sydney. She is currently circumnavigating the world before heading to her last port of call, Dubai, where she will retire and stay to be one of UAE's resident tourist attractions.

Queen Victoria's the newest and second largest liner in the Cunard fleet. While Queen Elizabeth 2's the oldest serving liner in the Cunard fleet, before she retires.

The last time two Royalties, Queen Elizabeth 2 and Queen Mary 2, were in Sydney Harbour at the same time was about 12 months ago. My friend and I went to Woolloomooloo to watch last year's much anticipated occasion. City traffic was bad, and we walked all the way from our place to see the event. It was well worth it. The siren went off when they met, and it was just such a fabulous sight. I'm sure tomorrow traffic will be bad as well, and people will flock to the wharf. I will be there again. Together with hundreds of other people wanting to catch a glimpse.

I will definitely be at the harbour tomorrow waiting. I can't wait!

Pay Per Post has welcomed me!

I've finally joined Pay Per Post's bandwagon of Paidblogging! It was a normal day, when suddenly I received an email saying my blog's been approved. Finally! It's actually been a while that I've waited to be part of the Pay Per Post family. Early on, I have been looking around sites where i can make money and based on my research, Pay Per Post is one of the really good paidblogging sites. In all the blogs that I have been bloghopping to, I've heard only good stories about how well Pay Per Post takes care of their bloggies.

Surfing through PPP's site, I can see a lot of market opportunities out there that I can't wait to have access to. Browsing through the site, I found out that they have a limit to posting 3 opportunities a day. I think this is a good regulation to keep a balanced and healthy blog. Just goes to show with anything in life, that balance is always good. Too much of something is never beneficial. I even like the interface of how their site looks like. So user friendly!

With this exciting new door that PPP has opened, I can't wait to plan more holidays! Surely the earnings I get from this will not go to waste!

Oh and one thing I've noticed about Pay Per Post Posties, is that they're all happy to be part of PPP. I am looking forward to being one happy Postie!

Dubai Does it again with the Super Bridge

March 2008 marks another milestone in Dubai's ever growing list of man made WOW spectacular projects. Dubai will be constructing the Super Bridge, which is a pretty amazing architechture that spans a mile long, and 670 feet tall. The Mile long bridge will be a new addition to Dubai's Burj Al Arab' six star hotel rating, the Dubai Palm trilogy (Jebel Ali, Jumeirah, Deira), the World, the Hydropolis underwater hotel, the biggest ever Dubai Mall. And these are just a few of the many other projects that UAE has in store for the rest of the world. Imagine a few years down the track, Dubai will hold to be one of the world's largest empire. Mainly catering to commercial tourism. This is not a bad thing in my opinion. It stimulates the world's tourist, innovators, builders, spenders and the like, to see and experience what Dubai has to offer.

Watch out for this Super Bridge as its slated completion date of 2012. Not that far away if you think of it.

Accommodation in Riga, Latvia

Planning a trip doesn't have to be stressful. Sometimes I find myself frustrated in doing countless research, sleepless nights, trying to find a website that will lead me to the one place where I can extensively search on accommodation.

In June 2009 I am planning to travel to Europe. Being the travel agent that I am, I prefer to consolidate and arrange my own tours and accommodation. I intend to research each and every city that I will be visiting. I am starting off my research with the Baltic Sea area. The Baltic states have always interested me from the time I saw an informational video featuring Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania.

The first city I am intending to visit is Riga, the capital city of Latvia. At that time of the year (June), it will be towards summer in Europe. And summer in Riga, like most destinations during peak period, accommodation is scarce. Moreso, reasonably priced, comfortable and perfect accommodation. I am not limiting myself to staying at hotels, and actually looking at staying in apartments when I travel to Riga. In my research, I have stumbled upon a fantastic website that offers the best apartments for rent in Riga. This was such a good website as it's menu was pretty straightforward. It had options to click to view : Apartments or Hotels and even an option to view Activities in Riga, Special Offers, Services, Terms and Conditions, Payments, Partners and References. How exciting!

Looking for an apartment in Riga has never been easier. I've clicked on the link on Apartments, and its given me a list of apartments that they have contracts with. It's got pictures, descriptions, rates, and even the location plotted on a map! If you're like me, wanting to visualise an accommodation beforehand, these pictures can allow your imaginationg to soar as if you were actually already in Riga! The map is very handy if you wanted to know where exactly the apartment is situated. I am not quite sure if I will stay just for one night, or longer, but thats okay as I've read on the website that they cater to short or long term rentals. So, if you are looking for Riga apartments for rent, visit http://www.bestreninriga.com/ . I have to get back to my research. Ciao!

Sweet Things lovers do

What are some of the sweetest things that someone's ever done to you? Or you've done for someone? Or someone you know?

Here are a few sweet things I've done, been done to me, or I know has been done by someone out there...

.. a friend delivered sweet somethings (flowers, cake and balloons) to the workplace of a lady love, with matching love note. A few minutes after, the man calls her workplace and says he loves and misses her. (P.S. He's just left the country a few days ago and gone overseas)..

.. she surprised him one night (just before midnight).. they were talking on the phone and she told him to come outside their house gate because there was a surprise waiting. He was in his jammies and she brought his favorite ice cream. They ate til way past midnight. It was something he could never forget..

.. she was so in love with him enough to actually go over the fence to meet up with him one sweet night. He never found out about him, but if he did surely it would have been one of the sweetest and memorable thing someone would have done for love of him..

.. he drove about 50 kilometres from where he was stationed in the province to meet up with her one night. He wanted so much to show the beautiful province he was staying at the she picked her up and took her to province 50 kilometres back. Stayed in the province for about an hour, took her back home 50 kilometres away, then headed back to his station 50 kilometres away. Wonder how long that took him? Let's just say it was a very very long drive. He got home around 4 AM. And reckons it was worth every kilometre's drive just to be with her for one night..

Unconventional places to get married

For people who are not traditional, looking for alternative venues to hold their dream wedding can be a challenge. Unless you'd want to settle for your own backyard, or your community hall, there are a few other places that you one can choose from. Some more costly than the others, but nevertheless, still would give you a day to remember. Here are some places you may consider...Or, maybe just have a good read at how amazing or unique the locations are.

1. Disney World Wedding in Florida
A lot of young at heart couples have tied the knot in sunny Florida. Imagine having to dress up as a Disney character for your own wedding! Interesting! And definitely a fun wedding!

2. Two Lovers Point in Guam

Imagine being on top of a 400 foot cliff which drops onto the ocean, overlooking the Philippine Sea and Tumon Bay. What a magnificent sight! What more if you have a sunset wedding.. Fantastic!

Are you both history buffs? Or just really want something memorable that will go down 'history'. Having your wedding in one of London's great architecture will surely create wonderful photos and lasting memories. I am sure this will be a wedding your guests will not forget. History wont.

4. Tower Bridge in London

Another spot in London where you can create nice wedding memories is having it at this popular tourist spot. This venue can accommodate up to 250 guests! Which is not bad at all!

5. Absolut Icebar in London

This is probably one of the most unique spots to get married in, in London. Rug it up in your warmies while saying your I Do's. Have your reception at Belowzero restaurant, and I am sure your guests will have very warm memories of your big day.

An unforgettable experience for the couple who would like to remember the most adventurous day of their married life. You can experience this at Palm Cove, Queensland, Australia or Thalassa Dive center in Manado or some other place which offer this unique wedding experience.

However way or wherever you are tying the know. You can be as creative and as bizarre a wedding idea as possible. Just always remember the real reason for getting married : which is to commit to loving your partner through good and bad times, forever. So, enjoy planning and have fun on your wedding day!

An Ode to Valentines Day

Since love is in the air, I would like to post two of my ultimate favorite classic love poems by E.E. Cummings... As a child, I used to recite the second poem below very often. Must be coz that was the theme song of Beauty and the Beast, the TV series (not the cartoons one), and I used to love that show.

i carry your heart with me
(i carry it in my heart)
i am never without it (anywhere i go you go, my dear;
and whatever is done by only me is your doing,my darling)
i fear no fate (for you are my fate,my sweet)
i want no world (for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you
here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart
i carry your heart (i carry it in my heart)
somewhere i have never travelled,
gladly beyond any experience,
your eyes have their silence:
in your most frail gesture are things which enclose me,
or which i cannot touch because they are too near
your slightest look easily will unclose me
though i have closed myself as fingers,
you open always petal by petal myself
as Spring opens (touching skilfully, mysteriously)
her first rose or if your wish be to close me,
i and my life will shut very beautifully, suddenly,
as when the heart of this flower imagines the snow carefully
everywhere descending; nothing which we are to perceive in this world
equals the power of your intense fragility: whose texture
compels me with the color of its countries,
rendering death and forever with each breathing
i do not know what it is about you that closes and opens;
only something in me understands
the voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses)
nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands

Happy Chinese New Year!

Above photos were taken from my previous trip to Singapore, one at Temple Street, and the other of a Chinese Temple. This Chinese New Year made me think about the influences that their culture brought to us non-Chinese people. A lot. How can one live without the Chinese food (take away). Or even Tikoy (some Chinese new year sticky rice pudding), Mooncakes, Hopia, Noodles, Siopao, Dimsim, and their Chinese herbal remedies! Each major city would have a Chinatown of some sort. I can name quite a number of cities which do : Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Nagasaki, Vancouver, Manila, and even Dubai! Chinese art seen through their paintings and temples are some fine artwork! Chinese Tradition are notable as well, passing on from age to age : Giving out red Ang Paos on Chinese New Year, wearing red for good luck, displaying round objects/fruits for abundance and wealth, Red Dragon dances...
So many more Chinese influences to name, as the world becomes more globalised. Cheers to the Year of the Rat! Kung Hei Fat Choi!

Better to care than not

Everyone, at one point or another has cared for a loved one. Be it a sibling, a parent, a friend, or even a spouse. Bettercaring is a site that opens a wealth of information about caring in general. It's layout is done quite straightforward, very user friendly, so that you may navigate the site and find information straight away.

The site is divided into search, discussion, reviews, comments, news, tips, real stories and health matters. One can search about nursing homes , join the discussion about dementia, comment or ask a question to a fellow carer, browse through reviews on the best retirement facilities within your neighbourhood, or read through the latest statistics on elderly care. With the internet frenzy, all these information readily available help one to become a better carer, a better family member or friend.

One of the fears I have about entering into a nursing home in my retirment age, is that I might lose touch with the outside world. Browsing through the Bettercaring forum, I've read people discussing about that same fear. One lady mentioned in the discussion that nursing homes are actually a fun place to grow old in as there are social circles and numerous activities for the residents. This made my fear go away, and so the nursing homes are not bad after all!

In any case, bettercaring's only aim is to be of service to caring people like you, and like me. What a wonderful world if everyone cared as much! I know I will use this one day, and for sure I would recommend this to other caring people out there.

Lucky you? Or, Lucky me?

The other day I watched Lucky You, the movie featuring Eric Bana (as Huck Cheever) and Drew Barrymore (Billie Offer - - what a name).

Huck, a compulsive gambler meets Billie, an innocent local girl. It was not your typical love story, as it gave so much information on the game Poker. If you are not familiar with the game, you will need to listen closely to understand what the movie is about. Huck was an emotional poker player who was very good with cards, but whose life was in the pits. Living in the shadow of his dad, LC Cheever (played by Robert Duvall) who was an all time Poker player guru that never gave in to make his son win. As much as the movie was a love story, it was about father-son relationship.

At one of the poker games, a scene made me think about the whole game of cards : Which gives you an edge in real life : your lucky cards? Or, your skill? Is luck enough to make one succeed? Or, can skill compensate for one's lack of luck? Which would you rather have??

A lesson that Huck learned towards the end of the movie was about giving (in), in order to gain something even more. At the final poker tournament, he realised this. This brought him to his real love, finding out for himself about what really matters to him : Billie and gaining his "control in life" back.

One stop site on Online Casinos - Pro360

I have always liked doing my research. Although with finding an online casino I prefer to be able to see reviews all at once. Here you can find different categories of online gambling such as: poker, rouletter, baccarat, blackjack, and slots among others. With Pro360's layout, I can clearly see in one go all the necessary information that I need which are game features and graphics. Plus, with one click, I have instant access to accurate and dependable reviews. For a newbie like me who is unfamiliar with the ins and outs of a good online casino, Pro360's website allows me to make a good decision. To find out more about online casinos, click on their link on Frequently Asked Questions, it has given me the basics. And moreso, if online casinos are really your thing, I'm sure you'd find their reviews are a good read.

Did you know that no major online casino business will cheat you off your pocket, as this is an illegal thing to do. If a cheating occurs, the business at fault is reported and legal action taken against them! This is really comforting to know! Statistics show that majority of the online casinos are actually realiable. All this information and more, as I read on Pro360's website.

For now, I am content with being able to surf information about different online casino games, and try out a game or two, and with luck on my side I should be able to win a few bucks. That will keep me happy.

One week to go before our Central Coast escapade!

I've been looking forward to going away again for the weekend and spending hard earned moolah! And, finally! Hubby and I are travelling up north to the Central Coast (in New South Wales) on Valentine's Day! :) Yahoo! I've never been to Port Stephens and so this is making me very excited!

Port Stephens is approximately 200kms north of Sydney, either 2 1/2 hours car ride, or 2hours train ride to Newcastle Train Station and an hour coach ride to the township of Shoal Bay. We might as well call it a piece of heaven on NSW.

After looking at so many accommodation options, such as B & B's, Beachfront Holiday parks, camping grounds *yes! i know, I actually wanted to try this, but (un)fortunately the one at Gosford called Glenworth Valley was closed for the period in February :( . . We finally ended up with a booking in a luxury apartment at Shoal Bay Resort at Port Stephens! And to top that whole resort feeling, we are billeted in a beachfront one bedroom overlooking the beach/bay! Isn't that alone something to be excited about?? I am praying for sunny skies and cool weather, so we can do kayaking, biking, bushwalking, toboganning and 4WD-ing on the sand dunes and that dolphin cruise! Wow! To think we are just spending three full days!
Out of excitement, I must have called the Resort about thrice today! Just making sure that all is set and perfect... Here I go again, me and my itchy travel agent hands... Well, its free to dream and be excited!

E-Commerce, the way business is supposed to be

Are you an e-business owner?
Are you technology-challenged?
Are you looking for the most affordable solution to sell your stuff online?
Are you after the leading provider of shopping cart software ?

Then, you are ready to visit Ashop Commerce! They are THE leading provider for hosted shopping cart software in the United States. Being one of the top companies offering this service, one would think that their rates are high up. But really, for AUD 69.95 a month one is actually getting a very good deal. Imagine being able to sell 50 products with 50MB web space, up to 10 email accounts with your domain name, provides site statistics, SMS notification, etc. And if this is not enough for you then you can upgrade to an unlimited account.

For me, the key selling factor here really, is having a user friendly and easy shopping cart software that will help me reach my goal : which is to sell my products. They can even help me with designing my logo, improving my website, AND submit my site to search engines to maximise my earnings!

I am relieved and appeased by the fact that should I encounter problems with my shopping site, Ashop Commerce has a live support tool that can assist me along the way. The company's support doesn't stop when you join them, but rather they are with me all throughout my business transaction. How good is that?

THE IN THING : Are you into Paid Blogging??

Everyday new ideas crop up. Either you're into it, or not? If you are heavily into blogging, one way or another you must have come across paid blogging or blog advertising. And must have heard, one way or another about Smorty.

Smorty is a channel that allows an advertiser to connect with a blogger, by paying the blogger to write up an informative/opinionated/or some kind of article or an entry about whatever product, service, destination (etc) they have to offer. In other words, the bloggers get paid for blogging . By signing up to Smorty, the paid blog job opportunities are made available to you and then it is up to you whether you are in or out! I have taken a few things in, and I am glad that I have. Life will never be the same...

Where else can you earn by actually writing about what interests you? You select your topics/subjects, and you can maintain more than one blog. If you wish to find out about more of Smorty's service, I can't tell you enough. It's really up to you to visit them and find out yourself.

Chill out at the Ice Bar!

It's been a while that I've tried something unique as this Minus 5 degrees bar at Circular Quay, Sydney. Everything form this ice lounge is, well, made of Ice! (Duh!) Name it, the seats, the drink glasses, the ledge, etc.... And another unique sell factor of this, is its location! Set among Sydney's IT place, with a backdrop of the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge, one must-visit the Minus 5 degrees bar. They provide you with Ice jackets when you enter, and you can only stay a maximum of thirty minutes (there is a premium to this experience!). But it is well worth the price : AUD 30 per adult! You get a complimentary drink, And you get the chilly time of your life!

To get into the whole experience, why not visit during winter! And dont forget, winter months Down Undah is from June-August!

P.S. Just a bit of trivia, drinking in Minus 5 bar's Icy glass, wont make your lip stick to the glass! Ask the friendly guys there when you visit! :)
