Some thoughts I write won't matter to you. If it does. It won't matter to you as much as it matters to me. C'est la vie.

.. he drove about 50 kilometres from where he was stationed in the province to meet up with her one night. He wanted so much to show the beautiful province he was staying at the she picked her up and took her to province 50 kilometres back. Stayed in the province for about an hour, took her back home 50 kilometres away, then headed back to his station 50 kilometres away. Wonder how long that took him? Let's just say it was a very very long drive. He got home around 4 AM. And reckons it was worth every kilometre's drive just to be with her for one night..

Above photos were taken from my previous trip to Singapore, one at Temple Street, and the other of a Chinese Temple. This Chinese New Year made me think about the influences that their culture brought to us non-Chinese people. A lot. How can one live without the Chinese food (take away). Or even Tikoy (some Chinese new year sticky rice pudding), Mooncakes, Hopia, Noodles, Siopao, Dimsim, and their Chinese herbal remedies! Each major city would have a Chinatown of some sort. I can name quite a number of cities which do : Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Nagasaki, Vancouver, Manila, and even Dubai! Chinese art seen through their paintings and temples are some fine artwork! Chinese Tradition are notable as well, passing on from age to age : Giving out red Ang Paos on Chinese New Year, wearing red for good luck, displaying round objects/fruits for abundance and wealth, Red Dragon dances...Huck, a compulsive gambler meets Billie, an innocent local girl. It was not your typical love story, as it gave so much information on the game Poker. If you are not familiar with the game, you will need to listen closely to understand what the movie is about. Huck was an emotional poker player who was very good with cards, but whose life was in the pits. Living in the shadow of his dad, LC Cheever (played by Robert Duvall) who was an all time Poker player guru that never gave in to make his son win. As much as the movie was a love story, it was about father-son relationship.
At one of the poker games, a scene made me think about the whole game of cards : Which gives you an edge in real life : your lucky cards? Or, your skill? Is luck enough to make one succeed? Or, can skill compensate for one's lack of luck? Which would you rather have??
A lesson that Huck learned towards the end of the movie was about giving (in), in order to gain something even more. At the final poker tournament, he realised this. This brought him to his real love, finding out for himself about what really matters to him : Billie and gaining his "control in life" back.

It's been a while that I've tried something unique as this Minus 5 degrees bar at Circular Quay, Sydney. Everything form this ice lounge is, well, made of Ice! (Duh!) Name it, the seats, the drink glasses, the ledge, etc.... And another unique sell factor of this, is its location! Set among Sydney's IT place, with a backdrop of the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge, one must-visit the Minus 5 degrees bar. They provide you with Ice jackets when you enter, and you can only stay a maximum of thirty minutes (there is a premium to this experience!). But it is well worth the price : AUD 30 per adult! You get a complimentary drink, And you get the chilly time of your life!
To get into the whole experience, why not visit during winter! And dont forget, winter months Down Undah is from June-August!
P.S. Just a bit of trivia, drinking in Minus 5 bar's Icy glass, wont make your lip stick to the glass! Ask the friendly guys there when you visit! :)
